USA - Egyptian trade volume increases during the first half of 2010

The trade volume between Egypt and the USA increased significantly and reached US$4.2 billion during the first half of 2010 compared to US$3.5 billion during the corresponding period of last year, say a rise of 19%.

This dta came in the latest report received by Engineer Rashid Mohamed Rashid, Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry and International Trade. The report, which is based on US figures, indicates the Egyptian exports to the United States rose to US$1.269 billion against US$953 million, a growth of 33% during the first half of 2010 compared to the corresponding period of 2009. 

The report stated that this increase in exports to the United States of America was a result of a surge in Egyptian exports in the field of chemicals and pharmaceuticals which rose to US$125 million during the first half of 2010 compared to US$14 million during the same period last year.
