Dubai Customs Book Fair opens at DC Child Care Centre
Dubai Customs organized its second annual book fair On Tuesday 22/03/2011 with the participation of local libraries exhibiting more than 500 book titles in both Arabic and English languages. The fair also included child education mediums, toys, games and puzzles.
The fair which comes within DC Child Care Centre cultural event was held in DC’s main building at Port Rashid with an encouraging turnout from DC employees and clients.
Mrs. Feryal Tawakol, Executive Director of Communal Affairs and Government Partnership Dept at Dubai Customs said the fair which is held for the second consecutive year aims at spreading knowledge amongst DC internal and external customers and facilitating them to access for knowledge and reading, taking into account that book is the most effective medium for attaining these ends.
Mrs. Feryal appreciated the Child Care Centre efforts and the idea of organizing such exhibitions that don’t solely target children, but also all other DC employees. She added that the Child Care Centre regularly takes the initiative to organize useful cultural, social, health and charitable events.
Mrs. Maryam Khalifa Al-Shamsi, Manager of Child Care Centre explained that the fair events which were closed down on 24th, March, 2011, hosted for the first time three internal libraries compared to the last year event which were restricted only to the exhibition of available books related to DC employees. This new initiative indicates that the Centre has begun to take official and wide- cultural dimensions, especially it it has displayed more than 500 book-titles in Arabic and English with a plethora of topics in all walks of life, particularly in learning and child growth.
Mr. AbduAl-Aleem Sidigi, from Alkhamri Trading Est. which was one of the participating units said the fair has given his Establishment a great opportunity to introduce itself to the DC employees. He explained that they focus in their books on topics that recount the achievements of UAE leaders and children books in Arabic and English.
Mr. Michael Diangon, from the Learning Fun Centre, said that they participate in the fair for the first time and they focused on introducing educational and learning methods that mainly devoted to children, suitable methods for UAE national identity and also the children’s games which suit all ages.
