Damas presents legendary Swiss watchmaker Catena’s dynamic new Horseshoe Chronograph
Damas, the leading retailer of jewellery and watches in the Middle East, presents legendary Swiss watch brand Catena’s dynamic new Horseshoe Chronoograph collection showcasing its famous horseshoe motif. Commanding instant attention with its striking good looks, the timepiece portrays an interesting play of contrasting hues and materials with the shimmering warmth of pink gold complemented perfectly by the elegance of black to present a sporty-chic chronograph offering quintessentially Swiss precision to 1/10 of a second.
Celebrating its emblematic horseshoe motif, Catena’s new Horseshoe Chronograph has gilded counters defined by black rings that enhance easy reading, while the red direct-drive seconds-hand moves gracefully around the dial, checking off the large numerals engraved on the bezel. A large ‘12’ is offset by a small date window below at 6 o’clock, and it is accompanied either by a sumptuous black leather strap or a steel bracelet. It houses a Chronograph Quartz movement, and is offered in two versions, black PVD steel and pink gold, or stainless steel, with convex mineral glass, hours, minutes, seconds, date and chronograph functions and 30-minute, 60-second and 1/10 seconds counters, it is also water-resistant to 50 m. Offered such a winning combination of distinction and contemporary design, the stylish man has the perfect choice in Catena’s new Horseshoe Chronograph.
Founded in 1947 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the cradle of watchmaking and a UNESCO world heritage site, by Willy Lebet, Catena’s collections are inspired by the equestrian world, and largely feature horseshoe and spur motifs. One of the brand’s most hailed collections is the legendary Spaceman, designed by the architect Le Marquand in 1972. A veritable design icon inspired by flying saucers, it was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the famous MoMA, until 1977. Following this success, Catena soon built up a phenomenal portfolio of several hundred ultra-slim models. In 1980, it launched its 569 model, considered to be one of the world’s best-selling rectangular-shaped timepieces ever. Other successes included the “gold ingot” watch, one of the first moon phases, and a tide watch.
Eric Aubert took over the brand in 1993 and very soon repositioned it around the world of equestrianism. In the spring of 2008, Catena was bought out by the French group Ambre who decided to keep the horseshoe as the brand’s trademark, scripting new pages in the history of Swiss watchmaking.
Dhanji Dedhia, Marketing Director, Damas Jewellery said, “We feel very proud to introduce Swiss watch brand Catena’s collections to the region. Famous for its signature horseshoe motif, Catena’s watches stand out for their innovative designs blending precious materials of the finest kind. As UAE has a renowned equestrian heritage and is acknowledged as a leading luxury capital of the world, I am positive Catena’s new Couture collection will be highly appreciated in this region.”
Catena’s new Horseshoe Chronograph collection is now available at select Damas outlets located in Abu Dhabi Marina Mall, Al Wahda Mall and Khalidya Mall, in Ras Al Khaimah – Safeer Mall and Hamra Mall, as well as in Ajman City Center, Bawadi Mall, Fujeirah Boutique, Al Bustan Center and Bin Sougat.
