CTA sponsors the film premiere of Fish Above Sea Level

Central Trade and Auto Company (CTA), the exclusive dealer for Toyota, Lexus and Hino vehicles in the Kingdom, recently sponsored the first showing of ‘Fish above Sea Level’ feature film by director Hazem Bitar. The premiere took place at Rainbow Cinema in the First Circle.   

‘This sponsorship comes as a further step in supporting promising local talents that show genuine potential but lack the necessary funding, support and promotion. Our presence here today is not limited to our firm belief in supporting Jordanian youth, but extends to our absolute sense of pride in the intellectual produce of our citizens in which they draw upon everyday life issues,’ commented Nadim Haddad, Marketing Manager at CTA.

The film narrates the story of Talal, a wealthy young man from West Amman, and Dawood, a young farmer from Ghor Al Mazra’a – a village by the Dead Sea, both of whom find themselves unwilling participants in another cycle of history that pits the prosperity of one against the survival of another. The story heightens when Talal discovers upon his father’s death that he is penniless. His late father, in an attempt to shore up his failing investments, mortgaged the family house. Left with no alternative to keeping his house in West Amman, Talal heads to Ghor Al Mazra’a to sell his father’s farm house, only to find a young man living in it and claiming it as his own.  

The film premiere began with an introduction by director Hazem Bitar, a short speech delivered by film historian and critic Adnan Madanat, as well as two short speeches delivered by two other actors.

Moreover, a 2011 Toyota Zelas, which is now available at CTA showrooms on Mecca St., was displayed in front of the cinema house.

‘Fish above Sea Level’ is inspired from the Zikra exchange tourism initiative founded by Rabei’ Zreikat to endorse the ‘exchange’ concept through encouraging urban dwellers to visit rural areas and to understand different existing cultures and traditions.
