The Syrian authorities have settled the status of more than 100 former rebel fighters in the southern province of Qunaitra, state news agency SANA said Wednesday.
SANA said some of the 115 men were soldiers and policemen that had fled their duties, but gave themselves up and turned over their weapons, promising not to go back to anti-regime activities.
The governor of the province, Salaheddine Ali, told SANA that more than 240 people from the province had turned themselves in since the beginning of the year, including Wednesday’s batch.
