Syrian regime missiles struck a rebel-held town in the northern part of the country Tuesday, leaving at least 23 people dead, according to the Associated Press.

Local activist who goes by the name of Abu Al Hassan told AP that regime forces attack the town of Marea overnight, leaving 23 people dead, including eight children.

The UK-Based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also confirmed the attack on Marea.

Syria's regime forces have been attacking rebel-held strongholds in the north, including near-daily attacks in the Aleppo province.
