The Associated Press reported Tuesday that a car bomb in an Alawite district of Homs killed at least 36 people.

Syrian government officials added that an additional 85 people were also wounded in the attack.

Syria's state television confirmed the bombing, but only said that the bombing occurred near the Zahra district of Homs.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also confirmed the attack.

Agence France Presse also reported the attack, adding that a rocket attack following the car bomb in the same area left another nine dead.
