Al Qaeda's main branch in Syria have claimed responsibility for two recent car bombings in a pro-government neighborhood of the central city of Homs in which 10 people were killed.
The Nusra Front, in a tweet posted Monday, claimed responsibility for the attacks, the Associated Press (AP) reported.
Just weeks after rebels and pro-government forces in Syria agreed on a truce in Homs, allowing for the evacuation of opposition fighters from the besieged city, a spate of car bombs ripped through a pro-regime neighborhood on Sunday.
Homs activist Thaer Khalidiya told AP there is spreading concern that the attacks could result in another truce agreement in nearby al-Waar being jeopardized.
Last Friday, both rebels and troops loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad agreed on a three-day truce in al-Waar in a bid to come to a ceasefire agreement.
