Authorities are becoming increasingly concerened in the UK as the first British national was found guilty of terrorism related offenses on Tuesday, AP reports.

Mashudur Choudury, 31, was convicted at the Kingston Crown Court of preparing and participating in acts of terror.

Choudury allegedly traveled to Syria in October last year with the intent of joining a militant training camp, according to AP.

British officials fear that more British nationals are joining terrorist groups in Syria, with the possibility of returning back to the UK as extremists.

The conviction comes one month after a British teenager was killed fighting alongside rebels in Syria.
