ALBAWABA – In an undisclosed move, Elon Musk has touched down in China amid recent Tesla troubles to get involved in talks regarding bringing the company’s Full Self Driving (FSD) to the republic, according to Reuters, as well as meeting the Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing.

"Honored to meet with Premier Li Qiang. We have known each other now for many years, since early Shanghai days," the Tesla CEO said on X (formerly Twitter), with Chinese media reporting that Li informed Musk that the growth of Tesla in China is to be considered a model of effective trade and economic cooperation between the United States and China.

Four years have passed since Tesla released its autonomous driving system (FSD) but is yet to roll it out in China, the US carmaker’s second largest market in the globe, Musk however has recently teased a China release saying “very soon.”

According to Yahoo Finance, industry analysts believe that China's intricate and congested traffic patterns provide a greater variety of situations that are essential for training autonomous driving algorithms more quickly.

Musk is also set to reportedly discuss information exchange laws since as mandated by Chinese laws, Tesla has been storing all data gathered by its Chinese fleet in Shanghai since 2021 and has not been able to send any of it back to the United States.

Tesla has been grabbling to improve sales against competitors like BYD and Changan, the company had a 9% decline in overall sales and a dramatic decline in earnings to $1.13 billion from $2.51 billion during the same time previous year, according to BBC and its share price has plummeted by 32% so far in 2024.
