Leading United Arab Emirates (UAE) merchants have proclaimed that Visa payments are a major contributory factor towards increased retail sales during peak shopping periods such as the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).
With over 16,000 shops and service outlets accepting Visa cards in the UAE and more than 2,000 merchants participating in the Visa DSF cardholder promotions, many retailers endorse the benefits of payment cards over cash.
“We know that 45 percent of all purchases made at Jumbo Electronics last month were with non-cash payments, and over 70 percent these were made using Visa cards - proving that Visa plays a huge part in the commercial success of our growing retail operation,” said Director of Marketing and Communications for Jumbo Electronics, Kiran Chhabria.
Speaking on behalf of Dubai's Gold and Diamond Park, Center Manager, Manan Desai, commented, “Jewelry represents an increasingly important retail sector within the UAE economy. Cash payments for expensive purchases such as gold and diamonds are simply not practical. As a result over 70 percent of sales within the Gold and Diamond Park are made using payment cards.”
With a 35% rise in the number of point of sale terminals in the UAE in just one year, over 16,000 shops and service outlets benefit from the positive revenue opportunities that exist by subscribing to the world's number one payment system. — (menareport.com)
