Jorge Valero, Venezuela Foreign Deputy Minister and President of the Presidential Commission for the Preparation of OPEC II Summit said that "OPEC welcomes the G7 interest to initiate conversations between consuming and producing countries in order to stabilize oil prices", in a press conference in Caracas, where he gave details of the activities to be carried out during the Summit this week.

Valero informed that bilateral meetings of technical representatives start today "to make a final review of the document to be subscribed by all members at the end of the Summit". Members of the Libyan and Iranian technical commissions are the first to meet.

Valero said that Venezuela President Chavez will meet with each delegation "to listen to individual considerations, shared proposals...to maintain and consolidate coherence in OPEC's message".

The premises for OPEC's dialogue should be "the defense of producing countries, fair prices and mechanisms for integral development", added Valero.

Valero informed that Technology and Environment will be considered during the Summit. "These issues were discussed during the five preparatory meetings.

There is the need to determine cooperation in the fields of Knowledge Sharing, networking, development of research centers and the OPEC University", said Valero.
