The United States Agency for International Development's Mission in Egypt plans to publish a Request for Proposal (RFP) to solicit applications for a thirty-nine month cost plus fixed fee contract. The RFP will target American consulting engineering firms who can prepare engineering designs and provide construction management services.

The required services will be regulated by the USAID/Egypt Secondary Cities program, which aims to provide water and wastewater treatment and disposal facilities for large metropolitan areas of Egypt including the cities of Kom Ombo, Darawo, Nasr City (Aswan Group), Luxor, Mansoura, and Nuweiba.

Earlier this year, it was reported that US aid to Egypt in the past 25 years reached $24 billion. $18 billion was transferred in the form of non-payable grants and the other $6 billion came in soft loans directed to the water, electricity, school and health sectors. (Mena Report)
