The United Nations Joint Logistics Centre (UNJLC) plans to set up operations at the Dubai Humanitarian City, stated a press release.
UNJLC is a United Nations inter-agency emergency response mechanism, which is activated for major humanitarian disasters. The role of the UNJLC is to optimize and complement the logistics capabilities of UN agencies and Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) within a well-defined crisis area for the benefit of the ongoing humanitarian operation.
The UNJLC has provided crucial support in the recent emergencies in Afghanistan, Iraq and most recently in Liberia.
Dubai Humanitarian City, which was launched in September, aims to host international establishments and organiszations that work in the field of food, agriculture, health, children, education, women and humanitarian services. — (menareport.com)
