ALBAWABA – Uber, the American multinational known for ride-hailing, food delivery, and freight transport, has announced it will launch robotaxi services in Europe in 2026.

Uber partners with China’s Momenta to launch robotaxi in Europe

The well-known transportation company announced a partnership with Momenta, a leading Chinese autonomous driving technology firm, to launch its robotaxi services in Europe by mid-2026.

A robotaxi—also known as a robo-taxi or driverless taxi—is a self-driving vehicle (typically classified as SAE Level 4 or 5) operated by a ridesharing company.

According to both companies, the initial deployment of robotaxis in Europe will include safety operators in the vehicles.

Notably, Momenta is already operating its own version of robotaxis in China and aims to expand into European markets through its partnership with Uber.

Uber is expanding its strategic partnerships in the autonomous vehicle sector

This is not Uber’s first deal involving robotaxi services. Earlier this week, the company also announced a partnership with Toyota, the Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, to deploy autonomous vehicle services in the United States (US) later this year.
