Chinese firms are increasingly targetting the Middle East markets, said Deputy General Manager of Chinamex Jimmy Ye.
“Participating in overseas exhibitions,” he said, “has proved an important route for such firms to access the potential of this region; over 2,000 firms participate annually in various exhibitions organized in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) alone.”
“The Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah was conceived by taking the above factors into account. Its second edition, featuring 600 Chinese enterprises and 1,300 exhibitors will be held from December 6 to 10 , 2003, at Expo Centre Sharjah and Chinamex, and will be instrumental in further boosting China's bilateral trade with this region.”
Occupying 16,000 square meters of space, the show features five separate sections: machinery and electrical and high and new tech Products; light-industry and textile products; building materials and household furniture and interior and exterior decoration materials; petroleum chemicals and Eng. technology products and two-way investment projects.
“Going by the current trends, China's total foreign trade with the rest of the world in 2003 will touch $800 billion,” Jimmy continued. “Out of this, UAE's bilateral trade with China in 2003 is likely to reach five billion dollars, making China the fifth biggest trade partner of UAE.”
“After due exploration, Chinese exports to the Middle East markets have increased significantly. In 2002, the total trade value between China and the Middle East reached $27.597 billion, rising 16.4 percent in comparison to the previous year,” the Deputy General Manager said. — (menareport.com)
