UAE residents can now fill their car tanks and pay with cryptocurrencies, as the Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) has announced the activation of the service across its stations nationwide.

This marks the first rollout of digital currency payment services at fuel stations in the Middle East and North Africa region.

According to the company, a strategic partnership has been signed with Crypto.com, a cryptocurrency exchange that offers a range of financial services, including an app, exchange, non-custodial DeFi wallet, NFT marketplace, and direct crypto payment solutions.

Through this partnership, Crypto.com will enable digital currency payments at fuel stations operated by the Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) across the UAE. In the first phase, the service will be activated at 10 Emarat stations, with a gradual rollout planned for all locations nationwide. The collaboration also features the launch of a flagship “Emarat x Crypto.com” station on Al Wasl Road in Dubai.

It is worth mentioning that the Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) currently owns and operates approximately 156 fuel stations in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The company aims to provide fast, modern, and secure payment solutions for its customers across the country.
