ALBAWABA- Turkish Airlines has announced one of the largest fleet expansion deals in its history, ordering up to 225 Boeing aircraft as part of its strategy to operate an all-new generation fleet by 2035.
The deal includes 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 50 firm and 25 optional orders for the B787-9 and B787-10 models, scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2034, according to a filing with Istanbul’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
The flag carrier also finalized talks for 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, 100 firm orders and 50 options for the 737-8 and 737-10 variants, pending successful negotiations with engine supplier CFM International.
“With these orders, we aim for our entire fleet to consist of new-generation aircraft by 2035, strengthening operational efficiency and supporting an average annual growth rate of 6%,” the airline said in a statement.
The announcement followed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, where discussions touched on U.S.-Turkey defense cooperation and potential easing of sanctions.
The order underscores Turkish Airlines’ ambition to capitalize on Istanbul’s role as a global aviation hub, bridging Europe and Asia, while advancing its goals of greater fuel efficiency, passenger comfort, and environmental sustainability.
