Turkey receives 675,000 tourists in March

Some 675,000 tourists visited Turkey during the month of March. Approximately 59 percent of the visitors came from member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a 21 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Travelers from eastern Mediterranean countries increased by 27 percent compared to 2001 figures, reported Gumhuriyet

 

A total of 11.17 million tourists visited Turkey between January and November 2001, up 11.7 percent from the 10 million visitors who arrived during the same period last year. During the month of November 2001 alone, 521,024 tourists visited Turkey. Germans accounted for 25 percent of Turkey‘s incoming tourism in the first 11 months of 2001, British tourists for 7.5 percent and Russian tourists for 6.6 percent of total arrivals.
