The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture reported that the country’s olive oil output dropped to 60,000 tons in 2001, a third of Tunisia’s olive oil output of 180,000 tons in 2000, reported KSA Today. Tunisian markets now face a shortage of edible oil, as locals usually consume 50,000-70,000 tons per annum. A significant amount of the country’s output is exported to Europe. — (menareport.com)
