ALBAWABA – Obayashi Corporation, one of Japan's largest general contractors, announced the current development of an elevator that will make it possible for people to travel between earth and space.

Obayashi Corporation is currently developing their giant elevator that will enable people to travel between Earth and space. The 22,000-mile elevator is designed to send people to space within 2.5 hours by 2050.
The elevator concept is based on carbon nanotubes, which will enable humans to travel to space at significant speeds. Astronauts currently take approximately 6 to 8 months to travel to Mars, but with this invention, the trip could take only about 40 days, according to scientists.

Obayashi is using a spaceship to deliver the materials for the elevator's construction. The ship will orbit Earth at a distance of about 22,000 miles. (Obayashi Corporation)
The company stated that the elevator will look like a massive tube, almost 60,000 miles long and will be able to transport humans and other materials via lifts that are called ‘climbers.’
The company is using a spaceship to deliver the materials for the elevator's construction. The ship will orbit Earth at a distance of about 22,000 miles. Once the carbon nanotubes are developed, the ship will gradually move farther from Earth to complete the entire construction.
However, scientists say the challenges are huge for this project because the construction materials must be extremely strong and lightweight. The company also needs to study other factors, inclduing weather conditions and space debris.
