Dubailand, Palm Islands, the World and Dubai Maritime City, amongst others were reportedly some of the highlights at the recent Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA) exhibition held in Tokyo.
A large number of professionals from the Japanese travel and trade industry attended the event to learn more about Dubai as a prime destination in the world, according to Khaleej Times. As many as 102 tourism companies in Japan are promoting Dubai in their tourist packages.
Participating in the important event was the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). Khalid bin Nassar, Executive, Overseas Promotions, represented the department at the show that has 16 co-participants at the Dubai stand put up by the DTCM.
This year's participation by the department marks the 10th consecutive year which it has attended the expo. The department also organized the Dubai Road Show in three Japanese cities with the aim to promote the emirate in Japan.
A growing number of Japanese tourists have been visiting Dubai recently, reveal statistics of the DTCM. The number of Japanese tourist to visit the emirate grew by 29 per cent as compared to last year, while the number of Japanese utilizing the Dubai International Airport grew by 30 per cent over the same period.
