The Kingdom of Bahrain will be the venue later this year of a major international conference on Islamic economics and finance. The conference will convene under the theme, "Sustainable Development and Islamic Finance in Muslim Countries" from October 7-9 and will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Bahrain.
This event will provide a forum for local, regional and international economists, bankers and financiers to understand, share and discuss the intricacies of Islamic finance and, also, examine the dynamic nature of Islamic economies and the various problems that it faces. The conference was earlier scheduled for April but was postponed due to the conflict in the region around that period.
The Ministry of Finance and National Economy is the host and main sponsor of this conference, which is jointly organized by the University of Bahrain, Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the International Association for Islamic Economics (IAIE), United Kingdom.
More than 30 papers will be presented by leading economic researchers, academics, bank managers and businessmen from various countries around the world. Some of the main topics that will be covered at the conference are, objective and aspirations of development and finance from an Islamic perspective; financial development and economic growth within an Islamic perspective. — (menareport.com)
