Three new upscale shopping centers, valued at 1.1 billion Emirati dirhams ($299.4 million), are due to open in the Emirate of Sharjah in the near future. The trade centers will be established alongside two preexisting centers, according to Al-Hayat daily.
The new centers have been opened in a bid to make Sharjah a worthy competitor amongst other Emirates in terms of shopping hubs. Sharjah, unlike Abu Dhabi and Dubai, did not attract a significant number of shoppers from other Emirates until recently. Such malls have become key to luring tourists and shoppers from abroad. — (Mena Report)
