ALBAWABA - Tesla sent a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, recalling two million of its self-driving cars due to the Autopilot feature causing approximately 1,000 accidents.

The Autopilot feature includes the ability to drive the car autonomously in a specific direction and apply the brakes when necessary.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that Tesla agreed to limit the use of this feature, allowing it to operate only when the driver confirms readiness to resume control of the steering wheel while the Autopilot is engaged.

This comes a week after a former employee, Lucas Kropfki, expressed concerns about the safety of the company's self-driving technology, stating that he found evidence in the company's data indicating non-compliance with requirements related to the safe operation of autonomous driving technology on public roads.

The former employee emphasized the importance of not fully relying on the system and having someone in the driver's seat consistently placing their hands on the steering wheel. He believed that the hardware and software were not fully ready and prepared for complete reliance on the roads.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, defended the company's self-driving technology, stating in a recent post on Ex: "Tesla has the best artificial intelligence systems."
