Following the recent news that it is launching operations in Lebanon, Iraq, and Kuwait, Middle East business-to-business electronic marketplace Tejari announced that it will enter the Syrian market as an extension of its partnership with Emirates Computers.
The companies anticipate that Tejari Syria will be operational within the third quarter of 2004. In order to bring the benefits of online procurement to the entire Levant region, both the private and government sectors in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria will soon be able to buy and sell goods and services through the Tejari marketplace.
Greater support for e-government and an increase in corporate Internet access are contributing to Syria's readiness to embrace online business models, including Internet procurement. Tejari Syria will seek pilot program opportunities with the government sector as it has successfully done in Jordan to convince decision-makers about the business benefits of the online marketplace.
