Technip has been awarded a lumpsum turnkey contract for the addition of Diesel Hydrotreating Facilities at the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco)’s Riyadh Refinery. The project began in early August 2003 and completion is slated for January 2006.

As part of the project, Technip will provide a diesel hydrotreater, an amine regeneration unit, a new sulphur recovery unit, a hydrogen plant and will revamp existing facilities. The plant will be able to produce 45,000 barrels per stream day (bpsd) of low sulphur diesel and have the flexibility to produce extra low sulphur diesel through the installation of additional equipment.

Technip's contract covers project management, detail engineering, procurement of equipment and materials, construction management, construction, precommissioning and assistance to commissioning. The overall project will be carried out by Technip's engineering center in Rome, with the construction being handled by the Group's local affiliate, Technip Saudi Arabia.

This contract falls within the framework of Saudi Arabia's intention to improve the Kingdom’s ambient air quality by supplying low sulphur diesel to the domestic market.

Technip’s main engineering and business centers are located in France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, the US, Brazil, Abu-Dhabi, China, India, Malaysia and Australia. The Group has industrial and construction facilities in France, Brazil, the UK, the USA, and Finland as well as a fleet of offshore construction vessels. — (menareport.com)
