National Central Cooling Company Tabreed has signed a 20-year contract with the National Investment Corporation to provide cooling services to its development extending into the breakwater behind Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Under the terms of the contract, Tabreed will design and build a new district cooling scheme in Abu Dhabi to provide chilled water for cooling purposes to the Marina Mall extension, Fairmont Sea Resort Hotel, residential chalets and a range of other community buildings throughout the six square-kilometer development.

The 6,200 Refrigerating Ton (RT) scheme – which can be expanded to 15,000 RT to facilitate the future cooling requirements of the development – will be operated and maintained by Tabreed for the next 20 years to ensure reliable and uninterrupted delivery of cooling services to all connected buildings.

District cooling is widely used throughout the UAE and around the world, piping chilled water from a centralized plant to a range of residential, commercial and government buildings. Landlords are attracted to the maintenance-free, economic and environmentally friendly cooling benefits of the technology. — (menareport.com)
