Syria's Minister of Agriculture, Adel Safar, on Wednesday stressed that the cooperation between the International Council for Olive Oil and the Ministry aims at improving the productivity and quality of the Syrian olive oils.
He added that the Syrian production of olive oil reached 200,000 tons, pointing out that the Council is due to organize at the end of this year a meeting on "Policies of marketing olive oils and importance of olive oils in Syria."
In a statement to al-Thawra daily published on Wednesday, he added that the Syrian exports of raw olive oils last year was estimated at 75,000 tons, indicating that the Council is working to increase this quantity.
For his part, Executive Director of Council Habib al-Seed stressed the Council’s support to marketing the Syrian olive oil to world markets.
