Saudi-based Astra Polymers and Switzerland's Ciba Specialty Chemicals recently formed a co-operation in the production and marketing of Customer Specific Additive Pre-Blends for the polymer industry in the Middle East.
A manufacturing facility, being built as an extension to Astra Polymers plant, will produce Customer Specific Blends (CSB's) using Ciba Specialty Chemical's proprietary form-giving technology. The manufacturing facility will be situated in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Astra Polymers, a supplier of the polymer manufacturing and processing industry in the Middle East and Far East Asia, will be responsible for all manufacturing processes while Ciba Specialty Chemicals, developer of stabilization and effects chemistry, will be responsible for the technology, technical support and sale of the CBS's.
Astra Polymers and Ciba will work closely with regional customers to develop tailored blends that will satisfy both their stabilization and additive handling requirements.
The regional supply of these CSB's offers advanced additive systems to the Middle East polymer industry that will help to increase productivity gains in the area. CSB's are multi-component packages that combine stabilizers and other additives used by polymer manufacturers into single, easy-to-handle blends. They simplify the incorporation process and improve worker hygiene and resin quality.
Ciba Specialty Chemicals produces a broad range of specialty chemicals for a large range of industries and applications. The company aims to develop products to add value for customers' final products by delivering effects such as added strength, protection, color or performance. — (menareport.com)
