According to the Jordanian Employment Ministry, Egyptians make up 68% of foreign workers in Jordan while workers from other Arab countries represent only 1.85%.

49.1% of foreign expatriates are concentrated in the Amman region while others are dispersed in Akabba in the South and Ajlun in the north. 28.1% are working in agriculture and fishing, 25.3% are working in social services, 21.5% in heavy industries while 13% are working in the commerce and hotel industry and 8.9% are working in the construction sector. Importantly, 90.8% of foreign workers in Jordan are uneducated.

One of the most imminent problems on the Jordanian employment scene is that Jordan both imports and exports workers, sending out highly educated and skilled workers while it hosts workers with modest to no skills to perform jobs that Jordanians avoid.

Statistics suggest that there are around 300 thousand legal workers in Jordan while other numbers state that there are well over half a million workers comprising 24% of the total Jordanian labor force. (Source: www.yallafinance.com)
