During July there was a slight decrease in the General Price Index but also in the value of shares traded compared to June.
The various figures and statistics are analyzed below:
Prices: The last day of the month General Price Index was 407.1 5 points. It is worthy to mention, however, that the highest level that the index reached for the month was 468.11 points. On a sectoral level, sub-indices reached the following points: Banking sector 515.62 percent; Approval Investment companies sector 282.33 percent; Insurance companies sector 284.1 8 percent; Manufacturing sector 142.98 percent; Tourism sector 340.08 percent; Trading sector 148.97 percent and finally the Other Companies sector 422.95 percent.
Market Capitalization: The total market capitalization (shares) reached £9,053 billion from £8,748 billion the previous month registering an increase of 1.52 percent. According to this month results the Banking sector accounted for 51.80 percent of the total market capitalization, the Miscellaneous Companies sector 21.69 percent , and the Tourism sector 7.20 percent. The Trading sector 4.91 percent, the Manufacturing sector 6.41 percent, the Approved Investment Companies sector 6.22 percent, the Insurance sector 1.78 percent respectively, of the total market capitalization.
Moreover the total market capitalization including the Corporate and Government bonds increased to £1 0,548 billion compared to £10,390 billion at the previous month registering an increase of 1.50 percent.
Transactions: The total value of transactions during the month in review reached £475 million with an average of £23 million per trading session. The Miscellaneous sector contributed 26.96 percent of the total value traded, which was the highest, whereas the Government Bonds had the lowest contribution with 0.01 percent.
Investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of Bank of Cyprus Ltd and Cyprus Popular Bank Ltd with 7.52 percent and 7.20 percent respectively. – (Cyprus Stock Exchange)
