Shell has completed 4.4 million Emirati dirham ($1.19 million) expansion works on its Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ) chemicals terminal. The Dubai facility functions as a base for the company’s Middle East distribution network.
The new terminal is designed to raise the capacity of Shell operations in the region by nearly 50 percent, to almost 8,000 tons. The expansion included new storage tanks for polyols and a manufacturing unit for on site processing of polymeric polyol blends.
The Shell Chemicals Terminal was built at the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai in 1994, with a tank farm and warehouse with drum filling and bulk supply facilities and its own jetty for receiving ships.
