The Saudi-German Hospitals Group (SGH) is continuing to expand its operations within and outside of Saudi Arabia, according to Al-Hayat daily. The group is expected to open an additional two hospitals in Riyadh before the end of the current year. One of these will be the Yasmin Hospital, whose occupancy stands at 300 beds.
Earlier this year, the group completed a 700-million Saudi riyal ($187 million) stock issuance regarding the establishment of a new subsidiary under SGH.
There are currently 285 SGH hospitals operating throughout the kingdom, with a total capacity of 41,916 beds. Of these, 175 hospitals, or 61 percent, are public facilities run by the Saudi ministry of health, 36 are run by other government agencies, and 80 are privately-owned.
SGH’s flagship hospital in Jeddah was put into function in September 1988 as European standard general hospital. It is a 100 percent private establishment, owned by the Batterjee family. The name Saudi German reflects the German design, the systems, the standards and the link to the German universities. — (Mena Report)
