Saudi exports to Egypt have increased to 2.4 billion Egyptian pounds ($563 million) during the first eight months of 2001, according to Head of the Egyptian Statistics Public Bureau Ihab Alawi.
This figure reflects a 43 percent rise million compared with the corresponding period the previous year, when these imports stood at EP 1.66 billion, reported Al-Jazirah daily.
Saudi exports to Egypt include petroleum, petrochemical and plastic products and some equipment and appliances.
Saudi Arabia imported $27 million worth of merchandise from Egypt during the first quarter of 2001, according to an Egyptian ministry of economy report. These exports include food products, concrete, iron, pharmaceuticals, onions and textiles. — (Mena Report)
