Self-service technology provider Diebold has implemented the first bulk-cash acceptance terminal for the Saudi British Bank (SABB). SABB is now able to give its customers the option of depositing stacks of bank notes into their accounts without having to wait in line for a teller.

The terminal is capable of scanning loose bundles of up to thirty bank notes at a time. It processes the notes and accumulates the value of all valid bills as they are accepted. The customer can cancel the process at any time and have all the notes returned.

As notes are recognized, they are transferred to an escrow area. Incorrect currency or denominations and unrecognizable notes are immediately returned to the customer. Once all the notes have been processed and the customer has confirmed the transaction, the accepted notes are transferred from the escrow area into a bulk cassette, and the customer receives immediate credit for deposited cash.

US-based Diebold employs more than 13,000 associates with representation in more than 88 countries worldwide. The company teamed up with the Alhamrani Universal Company (AUC) for the Saudi project. — (menareport.com)
