Saudi banks grant 1.6 percent more loans in 1Q01

Recently released statistics show that the total amount of loans granted by commercial banks in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the public increased by 1.6 percent in the first quarter of 2001, reaching 176.2 billion Saudi Riyals ($47 billion), reported Al-Watan. In the first quarter the amount of long-term loans granted increased by 26.2 percent, short-term loans decreased by 1.7 percent and medium-term loans decreased by 7.1 percent. — (menareport.com)
