ALBAWABA - A Ukrainian drone hit a tanker during its route to enter the Azov-Black Sea Canal, Yury Slyusar, governor of Russia's Rostov region, revealed in a statement on Sunday, according to The Moscow Times.
A fire erupted at the tanker, but it was controlled, and there was no risk of an oil spill because the ship was empty, Slyusar added via his channel on Telegram. Additionally, no casualties were reported on the vessel.
According to Russian media, the Ukrainian military carried out attacks on over 40 Russian tankers in the Sea of Azov to disrupt fuel supplies to Russian forces and isolate Moscow-occupied Crimea.
On the other side, Ukrainian commander Robert Brovdi mentioned that 14 Russian vessels, including 10 tankers, were targeted on July 12.
Brovdi added that four ferries were among the targets, noting that a total of 90 Russian vessels have been struck during the past week.
Nonetheless, Ukraine's military also claimed an attack on Russia's oil refinery in the Samara region overnight on Sunday
