Saudi Arabia granted over $820 million in refundable and non-refundable aid to Arab, African and Asian states in 2001, making it the largest donor country in the Middle East, reported Xinhua.
The Kingdom donated over three million dollars in non-refundable aid to Arab countries and close to $22 million in refundable loans to non-Arab African states. Asian nations received $2.6 million in non-refundable grants from the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia is also the leading investor in the region, injecting $466 million into other Arab nations, followed by Syria at $305 million and the United Arab Emirates with $304 million. — (menareport.com)
