Sakhr Software demonstrated the latest of its technological developments in the field of Arabic Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and TTS technology, which transforms written text into speech on Intel’s new Pentium4/ 3 GHz microprocessor.
Senior directors and information technology (IT) personnel in the United Arab Emirates, and several representatives of international companies, attended this demonstration at a large gathering held by Intel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) last week.
This event was dedicated to the premier launching of the new Pentium IV Processor, which operates at the speed of 3GHz, and to introducing its latest features. Sakhr Software participated in the event by demonstrating the proficiency of the Arabic OCR. Sakhr’s Arabic OCR is 99 percent accurate and approaches 99.8 percent after a very short font learning session.
Sakhr also demonstrated their software application Ibsar. This program, specifically developed for the blind and the poor sighted, is viewed as a reading machine that uses Text to Speech (TTS) technology to transform the written Arabic word into a spoken one. Ibsar can read web pages, emails and other computer applications, thus aiding the blind and the poor sighted to overcome the obstacles they face when attempting to use the latest innovations.
The Sakhr Software Company was founded in Kuwait in 1982, and was relocated in Cairo in 1990. The Company develops software specifically tailored to the needs of the Arabic market and Arabic language users.
