According to <i>Al-Zzaman</i> newspaper, the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research allocated ID 60,660,000,000 for reconstructing the Basra University in southern Iraq. The President of the University, Mr. Salman Salman, said that these funds were allocated only for completing the suspended projects and to reconstruct the damaged university's buildings.
These projects include building a presidential headquarters office, establishing arts theater, building a library for the history, medicine and law studies faculties, establishing a central library and building new classrooms. The university has between 21,000 to 23,000 students.
