ALBAWABA - A produce business in southern California is selling a limited-edition pineapple for $395, as reported by The Guardian, which the ordinary family might not be in a position to afford, but the premium pineapple serves as a clear indicator of the luxurious clientele's desire for the thriving specialized fruit sector.
The Rubyglow pineapple, marketed at $395.99 that is renowned for its unusual red skin and sweet taste, selling at Melissa’s Produce, a specialty fruit and vegetable vendor headquartered in California, according to CNN.
This red-tinted species was developed over fifteen years by Del Monte, a wholesaler that specializes in pineapples but carries a wide variety of products, first made available in China earlier this year in small amounts, but Del Monte recently looked into the product's future in the US market.
Cindy van Rijswick, fresh produce strategist for Rabobank’s global research team has stated, as per CNN, that “consumers are willing to pay for something that’s special,” adding that “there’s always a small market for higher-end restaurants, or foodies, or certain online channels,” despite many speaking their concerns for the growing prices of groceries.
