As a gesture of solidarity with the people of Palestine, Qtel today announced an 80 percent discount on all international calls made to Palestine, to enable people to stay in touch with friends and loved ones in this difficult time.

The reduction, which will be made available from January 1, applies to all calls made to Palestine from landline, mobile phone (HALA and Shahry), Q-Card, Dawli Card and payphones.

The discount will continue for one month, and will be extended as necessary to ensure that people feel able to stay in touch throughout this period of crisis.

Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director of Group Communications, Qtel, said: “Qtel makes this gesture of solidarity to ensure that people can maintain their connection with their friends and loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with our Palestinian brothers and sisters at this time.”

Qtel is a long-standing supporter of charitable efforts for the Palestinian people. In April 2008, the company raised QR 7,051,000 through a special auction of easy-to-remember mobile phone numbers, with the proceeds donated to the Red Crescent to support its efforts for Palestine. It has also provided ongoing support as part of its corporate social responsibility program, with a variety of social initiatives.
