Convergys Corporation is providing Qatar Telecom (Q-Tel) with a new convergent rating and billing solution based on its Geneva(TM) product.

Geneva will provide multi-service convergent rating and billing for all communications services offered by Q-Tel including fixed line and mobile telephony, as well as cable and Internet services. Geneva will also be used to bill the GPRS and UMTS services which form part of Q-TEL's service strategy.

Convergys will manage the implementation of the Geneva product as part of a major two-year restructuring program Q-Tel has put in place. The full set of Geneva capabilities will be implemented including the Resource Management System (RMS), the TAP3 roaming module, and Geneva Customer Service Agent, a Web-based customer care component designed to maximize the efficiency of customer service representatives (CSRs) by providing a single point of access to account and customer information.

Geneva Web Self-care will allow both residential and business customers to view and pay bills on line as well as maintain their own accounts.

Geneva supports dual operations in Arabic and English. It will provide customer care and billing for fixed and mobile telephony and data services as well as for cable services including pay-per-view, video conferencing, and games.

In addition to the wide portfolio of communication services offered to residential and business customers in Qatar, Q-Tel operates a coastal station service that provides ship-to-shore communication. It also acts as a reseller for satellite mobile services delivered by Thuraya services.

Q-Tel has exclusive rights to provide telecommunications services in Qatar and is one of the largest commercial enterprises in the State of Qatar. It was successfully launched on the Doha Securities Market (DSM), Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain stock markets in 1998.

A self-regulated monopoly until 2013, Q-Tel offers diversified telecoms services including fixed local and international lines, GSM, Data, and Cable & Pay TV. Its strategic priority is to create value for its shareholders by improving customer service, introducing new products and services, expanding marketing efforts, continuing to develop its network, increasing operation efficiency, and seeking regional and international investment opportunities. — (menareport.com)
