Your Chance to Name the Newborn Otter Pups at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is giving you the opportunity to name two of their new-born Otters.

The two baby otters, one female and the other male, were born to Asian Small Clawed Otters, a highly threatened species that is being supported by Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo through its natural breeding programme.

Their mum, Ginger, is the daughter of the first resident otter at Dubai Aquarium’s opening in 2008, underlining the success of the breeding programme driven by Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo to conserve the species.

The new-borns have been kept in the Otter exhibit under the supervision of the aquarium experts who not only take care of the new-borns but also educate and encourage conservation efforts amongst visitors to fight the extinction of natural species such as otters that are in the IUCN red list, marked as vulnerable to extinction. Globally, otters face threat from rapid habitat destruction, hunting and pollution.
