Muriya, Oman's largest real estate and tourism developer, was recently recognised by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Saif Al Busaidi, Wali of Salalah, in the Governorate of Dhofar for its efforts to make a positive impact on the community, near its flagship destination, Hawana Salalah. Receiving the token of appreciation on behalf of Muriya were Younis Al Kindi, Head of Government Affairs and Samira Al Bahri, Director of Human Resources and Administration. As one of the largest and most diversified developers in Oman, Muriya contributes to the nation’s economic development by ensuring long-term value for tourism, real estate, and leisure.

Muriya, master developer of Hawana Salalah and Jebel Sifah, is a partnership between OMRAN, the leading government arm for tourism development in Oman, and Orascom Development Holding, an internationally acclaimed developer of fully-integrated towns.

“It has been our honour and privilege to receive this token of appreciation from the Wali of Salalah. We always strive to make a real and sustainable impact on communities across Oman and even beyond our flagship destinations,” said Wael Al Lawati, Chief Executive Officer of Muriya. “From supporting schools, elderly, and underprivileged people, as well as women entrepreneurs, Muriya remains committed to its many impact-driven Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Meanwhile, as a future-ready organisation, we always put the empowerment of local talent first. We consider this approach to be one of the most impactful ways to grow and thrive together with our communities.”
Muriya’s contributions are designed to benefit the local community, contribute to people’s health and well-being, empower women and young talent. What unites all these various areas of endeavour is that they are part of Muriya’s wider Corporate Social Responsibility programme to create a difference in all the communities in which it operates.

Education is an important pillar for Muriya’s CSR strategy. The company upgraded and redecorated the library at the British School in Salalah and distributed gifts at school events. In addition, the developer collaborated with the Ministry of Endowments & Religious Affairs to help build a Mosque in Salalah. When it comes to women entrepreneurs in the Governorate of Dhofar, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, Muriya helped Omani women in showcasing their products and crafts in Hawana Salalah.

Invested in the health and well-being of local communities, Muriya provided food hampers to families in need, as well as an orphanage center in Salalah during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Other collaborations included organizing the Alwan Color Run for children at the Trimi and British School in Salalah. Additional activities included the renovation of houses in the Wilayat of Taqah.
