UAE Minister of Economy discusses measures to strengthen industries and trade

His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, has stressed the commitment of the Ministry to strengthen cooperation and coordination with strategic partners from various government sectors to support the UAE’s economic development and the performance of the national economy.
He was addressing a meeting with Ministry’s strategic partners from the industrial sector at his office in Dubai.
The participants provided an overview of the challenges facing manufacturers in the UAE. They also presented suggestions and proposals to tackle the challenges, especially to promote trade.
Mr Al Mansoori urged all partners to communicate with the concerned authorities in the Ministry regarding any obstacles or challenges related to import and export and certificates of origin issues.
He said the Ministry will initiate action immediately on all issues that fall under its mandate, most notably the electronic certificates of origin, which have contributed to strengthen trade significantly and boost the economy.
He also directed to form specialized committees to coordinate and follow up the issues of barriers resulting from customs, borders and certificates of origin and other related issues, and also to provide the strategic partners the agenda of the meetings of joint committees organised by the Ministry internally and outside the UAE. A follow-up meeting will be held in October.
Mr Al Mansoori pointed out that the ministry was keen during the year 2010-2011 to build close relationships with strategic partners where this concern comes in the framework of the strategic directions of the Ministry of Economy to strengthen economic competiveness in line with the UAE vision 2021.
