Turk: ADC reveal plans for the coming five years to develop the city of Aqaba

During the Aqaba 2nd Economic Conference, which was held in Aqaba last Thursday, under the theme of "An Innovation in tourism management & investment", with a number of delegations presence from all the Arab countries.
Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) sponsored the event as a Gold sponsor, and during a panel discussion titled "Investment Opportunities in tourism in the Gold Triangle - Wadi Rum / Aqaba / Petra”, ADC CEO H.E Mr. Mohammed S. Turk clarified ADC's role in developing Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) through building new or expanding existing infrastructure and required the superstructure, by creating business opportunities for ASEZ, and managing or operating its key facilities.
Turk revealed during the brief a number of economic plans integrated by ADC for the next five years, which aim to achieve the desired integration and will work to link all elements of development projects on the ground and under construction and infrastructure with more emphasis on the needs of Aqaba City and the investors.
The plan includes to establish a number of projects in different sectors of varied investment including the fields of health care, medical tourism, education, shopping centers, hospitality, entertainment, and various business, which will create good job opportunities in Aqaba.
Turk Added: “ADC has moved forward by attracting billions of dollars worth of investments in different sectors since launched in 2004, through the implementation of the ASEZ master plan by unlocking the potential of ASEZ and accelerating its economic growth and development, and contribute achieving the vision of establishing Aqaba as the new economic development model for Jordan.
ADC has ended the maintenance works of rehabilitating King Hussein International Airport (KHIA) runway with an intensive effort and maximum period of time to raise the classification of the KHIA to (CAT1) according to the Airports International ranking, as well as adding two new lanes to the road to the airport.
ADC launched a tender for expansion and rehabilitation of passenger terminal at KHIA to increase the terminal capacity to become approximately 600000 passengers annually. These efforts by ADC will transform Aqaba into a leading business, leisure and logistics hub on the red Sea.
