The Qatar National Convention Center  (QNCC) will see this year four more local and international scientific events, Dr. Abdelali Haoudi - Qatar Foundation’s Vice President for Research, revealed today.

“Within the coming year these halls will see several local and international events that we are proudly bringing to Qatar, kicking off with our very own Annual Research Forum, and ending with an international conference on Stem Cell Science and Policy,” he said.

Dr. Haoudi spoke at TESOL International Association’s “Putting Research into Practice” conference, addressing language researchers, experts and practitioners at the opening of QNCC’s first event.

Dr. Haoudi emphasized research as the “beginning of a way forward”, and an integral part of Qatar’s strategic development agenda and Qatar Foundation’s mission to support the country’s transformation from a hydrocarbon-based economy to a knowledge and innovation-based economy.

“At Qatar Foundation, we have worked to enhance the research culture in Qatar, create excitement among our youth about science and research and hoped and planned for the day when Qatar will become a regional and global hub for research, science and technology innovation,” said Dr. Haoudi.

“Today’s TESOL research conference does not only mark the opening of another great facility that we are proud and excited to see in action.  It is also the realization of a vision.”

Qatar Foundation’s Second Annual Research Forum, scheduled to take place at the Qatar National Convention Center from November 20 through 23, will focus on the globalization and democratization of scientific research.   By highlighting leading research efforts across various disciplines, the forum will serve as a venue for intellectual exchange and collaboration between researchers and scientists from developed and developing countries.

The Annual Research Forum will also serve as a platform for integrating research efforts around Qatar into a clear national agenda, encouraging greater collaboration among researchers and building research capacity among Qatar’s youth population.   Young researchers will have the opportunity to interact with renowned international scientists and researchers through panel discussions, workshop sessions and abstract presentations.
