Second Mosque at Dubai Silicon Oasis takes shape

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) today announced more than 50 per cent of the work has been completed at the second mosque that is taking shape at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park.
The AED4.5 million mosque is scheduled for completion in July 2012, which coincides with the Holy Month of Ramadan. Built over an area of 3,626 square meters, the mosque will accommodate 833 worshippers.
Engineer Muammar Al Katheeri, Executive Vice-President of Engineering Management at DSOA, said: “We are committed at Dubai Silicon Oasis to offer services and amenities that cater to the needs of our resident and tenants. The additional mosque comes as part of DSOA’s plan which envisions the establishment of several mosques in order to accommodate the increasing number of worshippers in the community. We are also currently finalizing the design of a third mosque that will be announced soon.”
The first mosque with a capacity of 300 people was opened in June 2010. Both mosques will together serve the DSO community of about 30,000 residents.
A wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai, Dubai Silicon Oasis operates as a free zone technology park for semiconductors, microelectronics and other electronics-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and R&D divisions in the Middle East and North Africa region.
